How to write a listing that gets replies

Author: PrivatiPaskola Experience

Looking through many listings, we see the same pattern: the ones that get replies are not the loudest but the clearest. Below — what works in a listing, what puts the other side off, and why the agreement should be written down.

What to include in a listing

A good listing answers the other person's questions before they even write. The other side wants to know whether the deal suits them and whether the person at the other end looks serious. So a few simple things do the work:

  • A clear amount. "I need €1,500" says more than "I need money". A concrete figure shows the person knows what they are asking for.
  • A realistic term. State how long you need — for example, "over 10 months". The term should match the amount and what you can actually manage.
  • The purpose in one line. What the money is for: a flat renovation, a car repair, an unexpected bill. A purpose turns a request into an understandable story.
  • How you'll repay. Briefly — from salary, from expected income. The repayment source matters to a lender more than anything else.
  • At least one contact method. An email is enough. Your phone number stays private by default — interested people leave their email, and you decide who to reply to.

A short example

Instead of "Urgently need money, write to me", the same listing can read: "Looking for €1,500 for a bathroom renovation in my flat. I'd repay over 10 months from my salary, possibly sooner. Happy to sign a written agreement. Leave an email to get in touch." In a few lines this answers the amount, the term, the purpose, the repayment and the willingness to formalise — which is exactly what the other side reads.

What kills replies

  • A vague "need money" with no amount and no purpose — it reads as unconsidered.
  • Unrealistic terms — a large amount over a very short term, or a promise to repay "when I can".
  • Only "write to me" with no context — the other side has nothing to base a decision on.
  • Emotional pressure ("very urgent", "last hope") instead of facts — it more often causes worry than trust.

An honest, specific listing builds trust on its own: it's clear the person understands their situation and isn't hiding it. A purpose and a repayment plan are the two things that turn a listing into a conversation.

Your phone stays private

On the portal you don't have to show a phone number — by default it stays private. Interested people leave their email through the listing form, and you contact the ones you choose. This protects you from random calls and keeps the first move in your hands. How this works across the portal is described on the about us page.

Agree in writing — it's the only proof

Once you've agreed with the other side, put everything in a written agreement: the amount, the term, the interest (if any) and the repayment schedule. In Lithuania, when the loan amount exceeds €600, written form is required by Article 6.871 of the Civil Code. But even for smaller amounts, the agreement or a signed note is the only thing that proves in a dispute what you agreed on. A verbal agreement is valid, but it's almost impossible to prove.

Common questions

Do I have to put a phone number in the listing?

No. An email is enough, and your phone number stays private by default. Interested people leave their email, and you choose who to reply to.

What amount is worth stating in the listing?

A concrete, realistic amount that you genuinely need. A precise figure with a term and a purpose gets more replies than "need money".

Do I need a written agreement if the amount is small?

It's recommended every time. Above €600 written form is required (Civil Code 6.871), and for smaller amounts the agreement is still the only proof in a dispute.
